When someone gives you money simply to support your work, they want as much of that “thanks” as possible to reach you.
Across creator platforms, 10% or more can go to the platform or intermediaries before that money reaches the creator.
That increase was on Buy Me a Coffee, which keeps 5% of every one-off payment. A one-off tip on Supportify is 0%.

Twitch pays 1 cent per Bit, so its share is about 30% on the 100-Bit bundle and smaller on larger bundles, and its subscription split drops to 40% or 30% for streamers in the Plus Program. Supportify
A creator support page with no memberships, merch, or paywalls, by design. It is designed around low fees and control over the support page. For supporters, the experience is simple: public content stays public, and they can choose to support it directly. 0% fees on one-time tips, 4% if they choose recurring, all straight into your Stripe balance. Supportify also offers stream alerts, queued alerts, and polls.
Buy Me a Coffee
A creator support page with tools for selling products in a shop and paywalling exclusive content with memberships. Buy Me a Coffee takes 5% in fees on every payment, holds your money, then sends it through Stripe when your Buy Me a Coffee balance hits a certain threshold.
Ko-fi
A creator support page with a shop and memberships attached, on three plans. The free plan takes nothing from tips and 5% from monthly support, with no shop or memberships. The standard plan takes 5% from both and opens the shop and commissions. Ko-fi Gold, $12 a month, takes nothing from either and opens the same. Fans can tip, buy digital or physical products, subscribe to membership tiers, or request commissions, and the money goes to the creator's own PayPal or Stripe. Ko-fi also offers stream alerts.
Patreon
A membership platform first. The core product is paid tiers with exclusive, gated content, a members-only feed, and community tools. One-time payments exist only as shop purchases; Patreon is not built as a tip jar, and the model is recurring access. Patreon takes 10% of income for creators joining now, plus payment processing, and pays out from your Patreon balance. Choose it when you are building a paid membership, not when you want voluntary support with nothing behind it.
You don't have to choose just one. Direct support can sit alongside any of the others.
